G,day Albert. Thought I had better write to you about the book you produced. One word. Magnificent!!
What a journey you took me on. It was very moving. I was going to make comment about the emotional journey the Founders of these Memorials must have undertaken but I noticed you already did that. No better healing power than engaging in acts of unselfishness for your fellow man.
What an emotional and liberating journey for you! I’m glad that you too completed the journey. To think that of all the memorials in your book not one is exactly the same.
One of my favourites is the one at Ocean Springs MS.  The way they have photos of their lost veterans in black granite and the fact that this Memorial displays the flags of all Nations involved in the Vietnam war, particularly Australia and New Zealand. Not many Americans know that other countries were involved and that includes the troops who were there!
On behalf of all those who bought your book. THANK YOU!

I just got my copy of “Warriors Remembered” and I wanted to thank you for your committment to remember our Vietnam Veteran brothers. Your passion to provide this story of the Vietnam memorials and their history was beautiful, but it also recognizes all Vietnam Veterans for their service to our Nation.
Again, my thanks and congratulations on the completion of your six year labor to recognize all Vietnam Veterans, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
And ” Welcome Home”. You are unsurpassed.

I received your books that my wife ordered. I will keep one and donate the other to our city library or the American Legion Post in Bismarck.

I must thank you from the core of my being for the wonderful, solemn, and honorable effort you put forth in creating this book. I believe that as it becomes more well known, people aware of the Viet Nam war and future generations will be affected and remember the ultimate sacrifice made by so many heroes and their families.
The stories are well written and the photography is very clear and well framed.
Thank you for your military service and the service of writing this book.
May God keep you in His Grace,

Warriors Remembered arrived a day before Thanksgiving. The wait was well worth it.
I was especially moved by the Introduction.  For thoughts of “why not me” have rattled around in my mind for the past 40 plus years; your words soothed those feelings and added a few more pieces of the puzzle.
Thank you so much for taking this journey. I hope that those who read the work will find some closure to the  feelings, guilt, and unabstract thoughts that remain with so many of us after years of wrestling with that turbulent time in our nation’s history.

Folks there is a book that I want each of you to have! Each chapter needs this book at meetings for members and guests to see the various memorials dedicated to the Vietnam War. Every Vietnam veteran needs this at home on the coffee table. If you were ever going to purchase a book about our war, THIS IS IT. You can get it on line at www.warriorsremembered.com. These stories have appeared several times in the VVA Veteran paper. Next to We Were Soldiers Once, and Young, this is a “must have”. I have no financial interest, and have never asked you to purchase a book. Trust me on this

Got up at 4:30am this morning, couldn’t sleep. Went downstairs and started reading Warriors Remembered. I guess I made it to page XIV before I started to cry and pretty much kept it up throughout.
I am at a loss for words to describe the impact of this truly marvelous work.
May God bless you and all who assisted in this Herculean effort.
Your poem was …………………………………….
THANK YOU!

The book is very impressive.  Both the photography and the write-ups are excellent.  It should certainly go down in history as a monumental compilation of this country’s Vietnam memorials.
The beauty and the power of these memorials is really incredible.  Though it was hard work to document all these memorials, it must have been a real pleasure to visit them and to talk with those who created them.
I wish you all the success in the world with sales of the book.  I will heartily recommend it to those associated with the Angel Fire Memorial and to others.

Received my book today….thanks.   I am just so darned impressed with not only the writing, but the photography and beauty of these memorials.  I once worried that the world would soon forget the Vietnam War like they did Korea.  I have no doubt now that the world will remember the Vietnam War (and Korea too) and all those who served, and gave their lives because of these thoughtful and gorgeous memorials.  And…your book will go a long way in promoting this.  It makes me proud that I helped build ours; we worked so hard to create something meaningful.  We continued to serve proudly long after the war ended.  That is something to be cherished.  These memorials show not only what we gave during the war, but what we did afterward to honor our brothers.

What a moving presentation today on the Viet Nam memorials across our nation; I applaud you for persevering with the book.
I’m sure this has been a ‘labor of love’ for you, but extremely emotional, as well. The photographs we saw are great, but I believe the true value of your efforts are the stories behind the scenes.  The few that we heard today can probably be multiplied across the country.  What was also amazing to me were the small towns (Ponca City, OK) & out of the way places (Greenfield, Iowa; Thomasville, NC) that individuals were moved to galvanize action to fund, design & complete the memorials.
Thanks again, Al; I am very glad that I was there to see your presentation.

I am sure your book is very good. However, I wish you had includedmore Vienam monuments., We have a Veterans Memorial Park in Richmond, In., that has not only a Vietnam Memorial, but monuments honoring all of our wars included one that honors Women Veterans. It is the first such monument in the State of Indiana. I am sure there are also othes that were notmemtioned.

      Barb,
I really appreciate your comment. You are very correct that there are many memorials that I could not include in Warriors Remembered either for lack of space or because I could not find anyone to tell me about them. I have over 1000 memorials on my list including the one in Richmond, IN. Just to fit 100 into the book required adding 32 extra pages. I encourage you to create a website that tells the world about your memorial so that people will know to visit it. Thank you again for interest in Warriors Remembered.

  2. I just ordered your book for my husband. We own and operate a monument co. in Houston, TX. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran and very proud of the many war memorials we have produced and had a hand in. Should you find time please visit our website and under the commercial section are many of these. Looking forward to reading your book.
    Thanks,

Dear Al – I can’t thank you enough for your efforts on behalf of veterans. Your book is a series of soliloguies that define our generation of veterans and the emotions we have experienced. It is the epitome of who we were and who we are now.
